Our Story

USA Archery Oklahoma (USAAOK) is the Oklahoma State Association sanctioned by USA Archery (USAA), the National Governing Body for Olympic archery in the United States. Our mission is to promote, encourage, and grow the sport of target archery throughout Oklahoma by supporting archers, clubs, coaches, instructors, families, and programs. Through USA Archery, Oklahoma members have access to education, insurance, coach and instructor certification, youth development, high-performance opportunities, and sanctioned competitions.

Our strategy to grow archery is simple: grow membership, grow clubs, and grow programs. We encourage Oklahoma archers and supporters to join USA Archery as Oklahoma residents, establish and operate affiliated clubs, and create programs that introduce youth, families, and new participants to archery as a competitive sport and lifelong activity. Whether you're picking up a bow for the first time or pursuing the Olympic pathway, USAAOK strives to provide opportunities for archers of all ages and skill levels to learn, compete, and grow.

USAAOK is governed by an elected eight-person Board of Directors, with directors serving one-year terms. The Association supports USA Archery affiliated tournaments hosted by Oklahoma clubs and oversees Oklahoma State Championship opportunities. Above all, USAAOK is committed to building a strong archery community across Oklahoma; one that develops athletes, strengthens clubs, supports families, and creates opportunities for everyone to discover the focus, discipline, confidence, and enjoyment that archery provides.

  • Samantha Gildenhuys

    PRESIDENT

    Samantha Gildehuys has been involved in archery as a parent, competitor, coach, instructor trainer and judge for over 10 years. She is a national-level champion athlete with international competition experience, representing Team USA in the Barebow division.

    She is a dedicated Level 4 NTS coach, committed to advancing her sport. She has trained international award winners and a national record holder.

    Drawing on her experience as both a competitor and mentor, she works to inspire athletes, support officials, and promote continued growth within the sporting community.

    Her personal focus remains on creating local opportunities for archers and introducing the sport through Explore camps.

  • Steven Fairclough

    VICE PRESIDENT

    Steve discovered his passion for archery around 15 years ago after taking part in an English Heritage Archery Experience, followed by completing the required Beginner’s Class. Since then, he has been involved in the sport in many different roles, including as a Judge, Coach, Competitor, and passionate supporter.

    Steve believes archery is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age or ability. One of the things he values most is the camaraderie among archers; the friendships and sense of community that remain strong even when competitors are standing on the line competing against one another.

    Steve is passionate about helping archery grow and thrive in Oklahoma and hopes to see the State’s archers reach new heights, including proudly representing the USA on the national and international stage.
